Berk Law | The Name to Know if You’re Disabled or Injured
Proactive legal counsel for the injured and disabled in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

What is SSD?

Social Security Disability Insurance (SSD) benefits are designed to help those who are no longer able to work due to a disabling condition or injury. The disability can be physical or mental in nature, and must have lasted or be expected to last at least 12 months or to be fatal. It must completely prevent a person from working to qualify. The person must also have been fully employed, generally, for at least five of the previous 10 years.

The benefit people receive is based on their work history and their contributions to the Social Security system. It is essentially a type of pre-retirement disability benefit.

Applying for SSD benefits without the help of an experienced attorney can be daunting. Most initial claims are rejected. This discourages many people, and they stop pursuing benefits even though they may genuinely deserve them. We can help you build an effective claim for SSD benefits

We Know How To Secure The Medical Records You Will Need

A successful claim for SSD benefits needs to present certain medical evidence to support a finding that a disability is preventing you from working. Most people do not understand how to obtain their records. Further, most people also do not understand what records will be the most important to creating a valid claim. Our experience helps us secure the medical records people need to prove their disabilities to the Social Security Administration (SSA).
